Capital City Community Center’s Early Learning Center Receives Recognition
November 1, 2006
Capital City Community Centers of Providence received accolades from the Rhode Island Office of Rehabilitation Services and State Rehabilitation Council on Friday, October 27, 2006 for its excellence in hiring and supporting employees with disabilities.
An award was presented to the organization’s Smith Hill Early Childhood Learning Center - an exceptional licensed facility for infants, toddlers and preschoolers - at the Tenth Annual Rhode Island Employer Honor Roll Awards Ceremony. The Center was awarded for its partnership with Project WORK, a program that provided valuable early childhood experience to high school students seeking to explore career options.
Linda Cronin, the Center’s Director of Early Childhood Programs, was ecstatic to be one of five organizations to receive an award in the Business Youth Partnership category. “Our partnership with Project WORK has been a win-win situation for both of us. It is quite an honor to be recognized as a 2006 Honor Roll Member.”
The Smith Hill Early Childhood Learning Center is unique, in that is one of the few in the region to offer the proven-effective High/SCOPE curriculum. The Center offers high-quality licensed early childhood care to over 80 children.
The Office of Rehabilitation Services works in partnership with the State Rehabilitation Council, staff and employers to assist Rhode Islanders with disabilities to achieve high quality employment outcomes.
