Before and After School Program

Research has shown that Providence elementary and middle school-aged kids that are unsupervised during out-of-school time are at high-risk for a whole host of problems, including school truancy and poor grades, substance use and crime.  Capital City Community Centers is providing a solution to these problems by offering a unique, licensed Before and After School Program to 120 Providence children ages 5-16.  Our program’s philosophy is built around a teaching method called “character education.” Character education is the deliberate effort to help people understand, care about, and act upon core ethical values.  Consistent with this philosophy, our Before and After School Program is changing children’s physical, social and emotional lives with:

  • Personalized attention by positive, encouraging role models.
  • Good physical and emotional health with physical exercise, adventure programming, time for personal reflection and relaxation and healthy food choices.
  • Exposure to technology, arts and science.  We broaden children’s knowledge and experience through access to our GTECH computer lab and through connections with local arts, dance, music and environmental groups.
  • Access to opportunity.  Our LADDER Youth Scholarship Fund offers full and partial scholarships to families that need financial assistance.  This fund is supported by contributions from generous foundations, corporations and individuals.

Our Center offers scholarship assistance and accepts DHS child care subsidies.  We are open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  To learn more about enrolling your child in our program, contact Shelli Boeniger or Shirley Polo at 455-3880 or email sboeniger@capcities.org.
