Announcing a Pre-Kindergarten Program at Cap City

Capital City Community Center is please to announce that our Smith Hill Early Childhood Learning Center (SHECLC) has been selected for a fifth time to provide pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) education in Providence.  SHECLC, affiliated with Gateway Healthcare, a Lifespan partner, is a 4-star quality rated program.  Starting in September, we will be offering 90 slots to Providence children in our 5 Pre-K classrooms located at 25 Danforth Street.  The Rhode Island Department of Education's Pre-kindergarten Program funds free, high-quality pre-kindergarten classes through legislation enacted in 2008.  Spaces are available for 1080 children to participate in the 60 pre-kindergarten classes in selected RI communities.

To be eligible, children must be 4 years old by September 1, and they must be residents of one of the identified communities.  Children are selected for participation in the program through a state run lottery.  Families can apply online at: https://www3.ride.ri.gov/PKLottery or they may pick up an application at any Pre-Kindergarten Program location.  Families can also download the application by clicking on the link below.  The application includes a list of all of the Pre-K sites across the State.
